  1. Privacy of children

The Big Challenge is dedicated to the privacy of children under 16 years of age.

PII about a child can be provided to the Big Challenge by its school’s teacher or by the child directly.

When the PII is provided by the school’s teacher, the latter is responsible for obtaining all parental consent necessary for The Big Challenge collection of PII from the child. The Big Challenge presumes that such consent has been obtained by the school from parents or the legal guardian. Schools should always notify parents or the legal guardian about this Privacy Policy.

When the PII is provided by the child directly, The Big Challenge asks the latter for a parent or legal guardian email address before collecting any PII from the child. The Big Challenge then seeks the parent or legal guardian’s consent by email. In the email, The Big Challenge is sending this Privacy Policy explaining what information it is collecting, how it plans to use it, how the parent or legal guardian can provide consent and how the parent or legal guardian can revoke consent. If The Big Challenge does not receive parental or legal guardian’s consent within a reasonable time, it deletes the parent or legal guardian contact information and any other PII it may have collected from the child.

In a general manner, The Big Challenge gives parents or the legal guardian access or the ability to request access to PII collected from their children and the ability to request that the PII be changed or deleted.

In addition, The Big Challenge may transfer your PII to selected third parties, which may be located outside of the EU (European Union) as part of the services offered to you through the Site. By way of example, this may happen if any of the servers are from time to time located in a country outside of the EU or one of the service providers is located in a country outside of the EU.

In case of transfer of your PII outside EU, The Big Challenge will request those third parties to implement adequate levels of protection in order to safeguard your PII. These third parties will also be obliged not to use your PII for any other purposes than what provided in this Privacy Policy.

Wherever your PII is transferred, stored or processed by The Big Challenge, The Big Challenge will take reasonable steps to safeguard the privacy of your PII.

When you use the public forum or any chat system (such as « News », « Testimony » or « Comments »), the PII you share is visible to other users and can be read, collected or used by them. You are responsible for the PII you choose to submit in these instances. For example, if you list your name and email address in a forum posting, that information is public. Please take care when using these features.

In a general manner, The Big Challenge strongly encourages children who use these interactive features on the Site, including applications, never to provide PII about themselves or any third party. The Big Challenge also recommends that parents carefully supervise their children when the children participate in online activities.
