Objective & content
This documentary episode presents cockatoos, members of the parrot family, of which fourteen types live in Australia. The narrator describes their crest and strong beak, what they eat, how pairs raise a chick in a hole in a tree, and the white, black and pink types, including the galah. The episode ends on how clever they are: they talk, dance and copy words such as "hello". The language focus is the present simple for facts, can for ability and adjectives of colour and size, with vocabulary on wild animals and body parts. Learners work on listening comprehension.
