Burst into tears (modismo) = romper a llorar, de forma repentina e intensa. She burst into tears when she heard the news = rompió a llorar al enterarse de la noticia. Variantes: burst into laughter, burst out crying.
¿Cuál es la diferencia entre burst y explode?+
Burst = reventar, casi siempre por presión interna (globo, tubería, brote). Explode = explotar con ruido y destrucción, a menudo con fuego (bomba, mina, gas). The balloon burst (sin estruendo) frente a The bomb exploded (con daños).
¿Qué significa «bursting with energy»?+
Bursting with energy = rebosante de energía. La construcción «bursting with + sustantivo» expresa abundancia positiva. Bursting with joy (loco de alegría), bursting with pride (henchido de orgullo).
¿Por qué no se dice bursted?+
Burst es irregular e invariable. Bursted existe en inglés dialectal o muy coloquial (sobre todo en algunas hablas americanas), pero no es estándar. Usa siempre burst.
