Objective & content

This documentary episode presents J. M. Barrie, born in Kirriemuir, Scotland, in 1860, and the origin of Peter Pan. The script names his brother David, Sylvia Llewellyn-Davies and her five sons, and his dog Porthos, and it follows Barrie to the 1904 play and to his gift of the Peter Pan money to Great Ormond Street Hospital in 1929. Learners meet the past simple (with the present simple in the opening and closing) and vocabulary about family, theatre and London. The main skill is listening to a life story told in order. The script says: "Barrie did a very kind thing." The target level is CEFR A1-.
