The mechanics · 16 days · 4 acts

The challenge plays out in four stages.

Students play. Points climb. The class rises, or falls. Everything is triggered in the app, with nothing to prepare.

The calibration.

Each class plays for its best score. No ranking yet: we set the dynamic, test the rounds, identify the leaders.

Act 02Day 3

The league split.

Classes are placed in one of the four leagues, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Titanium, based on their calibration score. Everyone has a chance to move up.

Act 03Days 4 → 15

Daily mobility.

Each day, classes can move up or down a league. Latecomers catch up, leaders have to defend. Consistency matters more than the peak.

The verdict.

Final position locked in. Every participating class is rewarded: medals, trophies for Titanium, escape kits to round off the year.

Bronze → Silver → Gold → Titanium.

Each league has its goal. No class is left behind: the momentum builds from Bronze to the top.

Balanced leagues: the split happens automatically after calibration, so that each class faces classes of a comparable level. No crushing gap between first and last.

A notification on PLAY. The class is in play.

Students see the CLASS Challenge as soon as they open the app: a dedicated panel, the collective score in real time, their position in the class and the school's league.

  • Log in via the existing PLAY account: no new link to hand out.
  • Several rounds per day: every point counts for the class.
  • Notifications when the class moves up or down a league.
  • Playable at school and at home, on smartphone or computer.

Every participating class walks away with something.

The rewards are shipped in June with the Big Challenge prizes. No extra cost: it's included in the Academy licence.

A medal for each participating class, engraved in the colour of its final league (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Titanium).

An engraved trophy for the classes that finish in the highest league. To display in the classroom, for the next cohort.

End-of-year escape kit.

A ready-to-play paper escape game to round off the year with the class, no preparation, 45 minutes, fully independent.

To take part

Three conditions, no chores.

If your school is equipped with the Academy and your students have joined their class, you're ready. The Challenge starts automatically on the opening date.

An active Academy licenceThe school has the annual Academy licence (€199 for the whole English department).
A class created and joinedYour students have joined their Academy class via the teacher code: this is the step that takes 3 minutes at the start of the year.
The PLAY app availableAt school or at home. Students see the CLASS Challenge on their home screen throughout the 16 days.
