Le trappole da evitare
1. Portare = bring o take?
L'italiano usa portare per tutto; l'inglese sceglie in base alla direzione. Bring = portare verso chi parla o chi ascolta: Bring your umbrella to my place ✓. Take = portare via, altrove: Take your umbrella with you ✓. La domanda da farsi è sempre: la cosa viene qui o va là?
2. Brought si legge /brɔːt/
L'italiano si legge come si scrive, ma qui il gh è muto e ough vale /ɔː/: brought = /brɔːt/, in rima con bought, thought, fought, caught. Mai /brʌt/ né /braʊt/.
