Objective & Plot Summary
The main pedagogical objective is to reinforce memorization and recognition of A1 level vocabulary related to family (mother, father, sister, uncle, etc.) by developing the ability to categorize and identify a word not belonging to this lexical field. The resource is an "Odd One Out" exercise composed of several lines of four words. In each line, three words designate family members, while one word is an intruder (ex: car, shirt, shoe, bed, hat) from other basic themes (clothing, transport, furniture). The student must circle this word foreign to the family group.
Suggested Procedure
Before the activity (~5 min): PRESENT YOUR FAMILY TREE

Getting started: The teacher distributes the worksheet. Write 'Family Members' on the board. Draw a simple family tree diagram to introduce or reactivate keywords (mother, father, brother, sister).

Instructions reminder: Remind what the 'Odd One Out' exercise is and its objective: to find the word that doesn't belong with the others.
During the activity (~15 min): IDENTIFY FAMILY RELATIONS

Step 1: Individual resolution and semantic verification (8 min). Students work individually to read each line and circle the odd one out. Encourage students to mentally translate each word to ensure they understand the family lexical field.

Step 2: Justification in pairs and correction of the odd one out (7 min). In pairs, students compare their choices. For collective correction, ask for the full justification: « Car is the odd one out because **mother, father, and son** are family members. »

Oral reinvestment: Ask students to choose two family members from the list and say a simple fact about them (age, role, simple profession, e.g.: « My **father** is 40. » or « The **baby** is small. »).
