Objective & Plot Summary
The pedagogical objective is to consolidate the recognition and production of basic thematic vocabulary at A1 level (food, colors, days, places, family) through a fun challenge. The resource is a list of six English words with scrambled letters. To help decipher them, a descriptive clue (Hint) is provided for each word, for example "A sweet, cold food" for the scrambled word "ECI MERCA" (answer: ICE CREAM) or "Your father's father" for "DRAFATHRE NG" (answer: GRANDFATHER). The student must analyze the clue to find the correct word, then reorder the letters to spell it correctly.
Suggested Procedure
Before the activity (~5 min): ACTIVATE VOCABULARY
Collectively reactivate the A1 vocabulary themes present in the exercise (food, family, colors) by asking quick questions (e.g., "What color is snow?", "Name a sweet food.") to prepare students' brains for idea associations.
Explain the concept of 'Word Scramble' and give an example on the board (e.g., "DOOG" $ ightarrow$ "GOOD") to ensure everyone understands the objective of reordering letters.
During the activity (~15-20 min): DECIPHER THE PUZZLE
Step 1: Individual or pair work. Students read the clue (Hint) and first write the word they think is the answer in the margin. This work focuses on reading comprehension and lexical retrieval.
Step 2: They then check if all the letters of the found word correspond to the letters of the scrambled word. This helps work on spelling and phonological awareness. A race for the fastest word can add an element of challenge.
Step 3: Collective correction by projecting the board and asking students to come and write the answers as they go. Emphasize the correct pronunciation of each decoded word (ICE CREAM, WHITE, SATURDAY, etc.).
After the activity (~10-15 min): REINVEST AND PRODUCE

**Creative Production:** Ask students to integrate the six decoded vocabulary words (ICE CREAM, WHITE, SATURDAY, MARKET, LETTER, GRANDFATHER) into two or three simple and coherent sentences to practice written production.
Adaptations
To simplify: Provide the first letter of each word to decipher. Alternatively, allow the use of a bilingual dictionary to look up unknown words from the clues.
To deepen: Ask students to create their own "Word Scramble" exercise with new A1/A2 level vocabulary words, writing their own clues. The best exercise will be distributed to the class.
