1. Jamais would après if
Erreur n°1 des francophones : If I would have time ❌. La règle anglaise est stricte : dans la subordonnée en if (type II), on met le prétérit, pas would. Forme correcte : If I had time, I would understand.
2. Would to understand ❌
Après would, le verbe est à l'infinitif sans to. On dit would understand, jamais would to understand.
3. 'd = would ou had ?
La contraction 'd peut être would ou had. Repère : 'd + infinitif = would (I'd understand = I would understand). 'd + participe passé = had (I'd understood = I had understood).

On utilise would + l'infinitif : would understand. La forme est invariable, identique a toutes les personnes (I, you, he, she, it, we, they). Exemple : I would understand if I had time.

On utilise I would understand (contracte en I'd understand). L'anglais n'a pas de terminaison de conditionnel comme le français ; il ajoute le modal would devant l'infinitif.
