Objective & content

This A1- documentary presents fish and chips, a famous British meal, and tells how fried fish and fried potatoes met in the 1860s. The script names John Lees, who opened a shop in the north of England, and Joseph Malin, who opened one in London. It also explains why the meal suited factory workers and how the trains helped it spread. The language focus is the present simple to describe a dish, with food and cooking vocabulary and singular and plural nouns ("We call these potatoes 'chips'."). The main skill is listening comprehension, then the in-app quiz.
