1. Fare male (soggetto = la parte del corpo)
- My head hurts. (Mi fa male la testa.)
- My back hurts. (Mi fa male la schiena.)
2. Farsi male
Hurt + parte del corpo.
- I hurt my knee. (Mi sono fatto male al ginocchio.)
- Don't hurt yourself. (Non farti male.)
3. Ferire (sentimenti)
- You hurt my feelings. (Mi hai ferito.)

Le trappole da evitare
1. It hurts me the head ❌
Calco di «mi fa male la testa». In inglese il soggetto è la parte del corpo e ci vuole il possessivo: My head hurts ✓ (oppure I have a headache). Mai It hurts me the head ❌. Lo stesso per My back hurts (mi fa male la schiena).
2. Hurt ≠ be in pain
It hurts = fa male (in generale). I'm in pain = sto soffrendo, ho dolore (più intenso, più medico). Does it hurt? = ti fa male? è la domanda tipica del medico.
