Objective & content

This documentary episode presents the invention of the electric light bulb. It follows Thomas Alva Edison and his team at Menlo Park, who tried many materials for the filament before bamboo worked for 1,200 hours, and mentions Joseph Swan in England. The script explains how a bulb works (a thin wire, electricity and no air inside the glass) and what electric light changed for towns, workshops and offices. The language focus is the past simple (regular and irregular verbs) with present simple explanations, plus vocabulary on inventions and famous people. The skills are listening comprehension and vocabulary building.
