1. Dar una opinión
I think (that) + oración. El that suele omitirse.
- I think (that) English is fun. — Pienso que el inglés es divertido.
- What do you think? — ¿Qué opinas?
2. Reflexionar (acción en curso)
Be thinking = estar reflexionando.
- I'm thinking about it. — Lo estoy pensando.
- Let me think. — Déjame pensar.
3. Creer algo equivocadamente (en pasado)
- I thought you were French. — Pensaba que eras francés.
- We thought the test was easy. We were wrong. — Pensábamos que el examen era fácil. Nos equivocamos.

Las trampas que debes evitar
1. Think about / think of, nunca think in
En español dices «pensar en», pero el calco think in no existe en inglés. Think about = reflexionar sobre algo, considerarlo. Think of = acordarse, tener una idea. I'm thinking about my exam = le estoy dando vueltas. I can't think of his name = no consigo acordarme de su nombre.
2. Thought = pasado simple Y participio pasado
El pasado simple y el participio pasado son idénticos: thought. I thought (pasado simple) ≠ I have thought (presente perfecto), misma palabra pero sentido distinto según el contexto.
3. Nada de thinking para dar una opinión
Para dar una opinión se usa think, no am thinking, aunque en español tengas la forma «estoy pensando» disponible. I think English is fun ✓ (opinión). I'm thinking about my homework ✓ (acción en curso, es distinto).

¿Cuál es el pasado simple del verbo think?+
El pasado simple de to think es thought (se pronuncia /θɔːt/), invariable. El participio pasado también es thought (idéntico al pasado simple). Think → thought → thought.
¿Por qué no se dice thinked en pasado?+
Think es un verbo irregular. Su pasado simple no sigue la regla del -ed. La forma correcta es thought, nunca thinked. Es un error clásico entre hispanohablantes principiantes.
¿Cuál es la diferencia entre think y believe?+
Think = pensar, tener una opinión o suponer (más ligero). Believe = creer firmemente, estar convencido (más fuerte). I think it'll rain (creo que va a llover). I believe in justice (creo en la justicia). Los dos pueden traducir «creer» según el contexto, así que fíjate en el matiz.
¿Cuál es la diferencia entre think about y think of?+
Think about = reflexionar sobre algo, considerarlo en detalle. Think of = acordarse, imaginar, tener una idea. I'm thinking about my future (le estoy dando vueltas). I can't think of his name (no consigo acordarme de su nombre). What do you think of this idea? (¿Qué te parece esta idea?). Ojo: en español dices «pensar en», pero el calco directo think in no existe en inglés.
¿Cómo se dice «creo que sí / no» en inglés?+
Se dice I think so (creo que sí) y I don't think so (creo que no). Muy frecuente en el habla oral, como respuesta a una pregunta. No se repite la frase entera.
