This documentary episode of Animals & Creatures of Australia presents the emu, "the biggest bird in Australia". The narrator describes its size and colour, its speed, its food and the way the father looks after the eggs and the babies. The episode also tells the story of the Great Emu War of 1932 and explains why the emu is a national symbol and a protected animal. The language focus is the present simple with can for ability, on a vocabulary of wild animals and physical description. Learners practise listening for key facts, then answer the in-app quiz.
