Objective & content
This documentary episode of Animals & Creatures of Australia (A1-) is narrated by the series host and presents the Funnel-Web Spider. It explains where the spider lives (cool, wet places in New South Wales), why it has its name, how the male and the female differ, and why it only attacks when it is afraid. The script ends with the medicine made in 1981 and the advice "always check shoes outside after it rains". The main language focus is the present simple for facts and descriptions, with be and adjectives, and vocabulary of wild animals, physical description and health. Learners practise listening comprehension and vocabulary building.
