Teaching guide

Objective & content

Fish and Chips sit at a kitchen table with five sweets each. Chips eats hers slowly, while Fish empties the whole jar, counts "Six! Seven! Eight! Nine!" as he goes and ends up green among the wrappers. The focus is the numbers one to ten, heard as one sequence, plus the word sweets and the short phrase "I feel sick." In the final test Fish asks Chips to count two rows of five wrappers, and she answers "One! Two! Three! Four! Five!" and then "Six! Seven! Eight! Nine! Ten!". Pupils listen, point at the pictures and repeat the numbers aloud: no reading or writing is asked.
