The Class Challenge
Discover The Class Challenge, a collective contest that engages the whole class through interactive activities on The Big Challenge PLAY.
What is The Class Challenge?
The Class Challenge is a collective event distinct from the individual The Big Challenge contest. 👉 It makes it possible to involve the whole class by creating a positive, motivating group dynamic.
How The Class Challenge works
- Duration: Over several weeks, pupils play on the The Big Challenge PLAY app.
- Collaboration: Each pupil accumulates points that contribute to the class's total score.
- Division rankings: Classes are divided into evolving divisions based on their overall performance.
- Support for pupils: The emphasis is on consistency and involvement, which also values pupils who struggle.
The teacher's role
The teacher must register the classes and invite the pupils. Once the event is launched, the pupils play independently, which makes this activity light on time for the teacher.
When does The Class Challenge take place?
The Class Challenge runs from 11 January to 30 January 2027.
👉 Tip : Let pupils and their families know these dates so they can take an active part, including from home.
As a teacher, what do I need to do to organise The Class Challenge?
Organising The Class Challenge is quick for the teacher. Here are the key steps to follow:
1️⃣ Create the participating classes from your user account. 2️⃣ Create the pupil accounts or invite the pupils to join their class via a class code. 3️⃣ Check that all the pupils have joined their class before the Challenge begins.
💡 Good to know : The teacher can track the class's progress from their account.
When are The Class Challenge prizes sent out?
The Class Challenge prizes are sent out at the same time as the contest prizes, from 31 May 2027.
💡 Good to know : These prizes can be used for an end-of-year prize-giving, which recognises the pupils' engagement.
Which levels are concerned?
The Class Challenge is intended for pupils from Grade 4 to Grade 10 (vocational track).
Which skills are practised?
The questions used during The Class Challenge come from the The Big Challenge PLAY app. These activities help develop the competences defined by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Skills practised
1️⃣ Listening and understanding: Listening comprehension of common expressions and sentences. 2️⃣ Reading and understanding: The ability to read and understand short, accessible texts. 3️⃣ Writing: Producing short sentences to answer questions or complete texts. 4️⃣ Reacting and conversing: The ability to interact in everyday situations.
💡 Why does this matter? These skills are directly linked to the learning objectives of the curriculum and help strengthen the foundations of English.
