Information on registering for The Big Challenge: number of students, procedure, levels, deadlines, English-speaking students, special needs and late registrations.
How many students can I register?
A minimum of 30 students is required to register for the contest, but there is no maximum limit. You can register as many students as you wish.

Until when can I register students?
👉 Registration is recommended before: 29 January 2027. 👉 Registration deadline: 6 March 2027. 👉 Extension: until 13 March 2027.
Should I register only my best students?
No, all students are invited to take part, whatever their level. The aim of the contest is to motivate and reward every student's efforts. Registering only the best students limits the positive impact of the contest on the rest of the class.
💡 Tip : The goal is to create an atmosphere of collective motivation, where every student feels encouraged to make progress.
Which level should I choose for my students?
The contest levels correspond to the students' school year.
👉 You have nothing to calculate: simply enter the number of students per class (from Grade 3 to Grade 9) when registering.
How do I add students after registering?
If you wish to add students after registering, follow these steps: 1️⃣ Log in to your teacher account or click the Log in tab from the The Big Challenge website. 2️⃣ Edit your existing registration by adding the new students.
💡 Good to know : You can change the number of registered students up to the registration deadline, unless payment has already been made.
Is there a maximum number of students I can register?
No, there is no maximum limit. You can register as many students as you wish. The more students take part, the more motivating the contest becomes for the whole class.
Can students register individually?
No, registrations must be made by a coordinator within the school. Students cannot register on their own. This ensures better organisation at school level and makes managing registrations and the contest easier.
My students are not available on the date of the contest
If your students are not available on the planned date, you can contact the organisation to discuss the possible solutions. 👉 Online format: the contest takes place between 15 March and 27 March 2027 (from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.), giving you full flexibility. 👉 Mixed format: the contest also takes place between 15 March and 27 March 2027.
💡 Tip : If you anticipate a clash of dates, consider the Online format, which lets you choose the date of the contest within the contest window. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns.
Why is a minimum of 30 students required to register for the contest?
The minimum of 30 students per school is explained by the fixed organisation costs. These costs include:
- 📦 Sending out the materials (question papers, answer sheets, return envelopes) for the Mixed format.
- 💻 Developing the online contest and managing the databases for the Online format.
- 🎉 Putting together the prizes and certificates to be sent to schools...

Can I register English-speaking students?
Yes, but under specific conditions.
English-speaking students can take part in the contest, but they will be ranked outside the competition. 👉 Declare them when registering so that their status is taken into account in the rankings.
This rule ensures fairness for the other participants whose command of English comes exclusively from learning at school.
How can a student with special educational needs take part?
If you wish to adapt the contest for a student with special educational needs (SEN), this is possible.
👉 Contact the organisation directly to discuss the appropriate solutions.
Each situation is reviewed on a case-by-case basis in order to provide the adjustments the student needs.
What is the registration pack?
The registration pack is a set of documents that are useful for organising the contest. It contains:

- 📢 Two posters for your class.
