Teaching guide

Objective & content

Two hosts give a light survey of American food culture. They follow the diner and the food truck back to one food wagon from 1872, then look at the classic diner breakfast, the doughnut and its hole, the burger and the hot dog. They finish on the idea that "everything's bigger" in America, including portion sizes. The language focus is the present simple and superlatives (most famous), with two short past simple stories (the wagon and the doughnut hole). Learners work on listening for facts, numbers and food vocabulary at A1+. One line to listen for: "With a B."
