Objective & content
Two friends talk about Thanksgiving as the day America travels. One explains and the other reacts: about eighty million people cross the country for a family dinner, Americans eat forty-six million turkeys, and the table has sweet potatoes with marshmallows, bread, gravy and pumpkin pie. The episode also covers the Turkey Trot, the White House turkey pardon, Friendsgiving and the next-day sandwich. The grammar focus is present simple, with there is / there are for the food on the table. Learners listen for the numbers and the food vocabulary, for example "Run first, eat second."
