Teaching guide

Objective & content

Max, Mila, Luna and Ben each answer the narrator's question about where they live. Max and Luna say the town, Maple Falls, and Mila and Ben say the country, the USA. The episode teaches one fixed question and answer, with the question word "where" and the present simple inside it: "Where do you live?" and "I live in Maple Falls." At the end the kids say "Now you say it!" and the class answers with its own town or country after a pause of about four seconds. Pupils listen, point and repeat; nothing is read or written.

Materials & prerequisites

The episode has no printable sheets and no lesson plan. A map or globe is useful to point at the town and the country. No prior grammar is assumed: the question and the answer are taught as whole phrases.

Curriculum alignment

Tagged c3-child-and-wider-environment (cycle 3, 6e). The episode targets CEFR level A0-.

Possible adaptations

  • Lower levels: Offer segmented listening and additional visual aids.
  • Advanced levels: Encourage an oral summary and a debate in English on the theme.
  • Large groups: Organise group work with differentiated roles.
