Objective & content

Two friends start by disagreeing about whether British food deserves its bad reputation abroad ("But everyone loves British food!"). They then go through a day of meals: the full English breakfast, the sandwich and the Earl of Sandwich, Sunday roast, apple crumble and trifle, afternoon tea, bangers and mash, chicken tikka masala and, as the most popular food in Britain, fish and chips. The language focus is present simple, with question words and do/does questions about what people eat. The vocabulary covers meals, food and drink, and cooking verbs. The skill is listening comprehension, with cultural awareness of British food.
