Objective & content
Two presenters visit two of the four countries of the United Kingdom. In Scotland they talk about its position in the north, Edinburgh and its parliament, lochs, the Loch Ness monster, Gaelic, kilts and tartan. In Wales they cover its position to the west of England, Cardiff, Snowdonia, the number of castles, the Welsh language and corgis. The language focus is present simple, prepositions of place and short comparatives and superlatives, with simple numbers and percentages for population and language. The skill is listening, then the in-app quiz. Key line: "Wales is the smallest of the three countries on the island of Great Britain."
Materials & prerequisites
- Student sheet and teacher sheet (printables/student-sheet.pdf, teacher-sheet.pdf, with HTML versions).
- Prerequisites: the four countries of the UK and England (episodes 1 and 2), "is" and "there is", and the compass points.
Curriculum alignment

Possible adaptations
- Lower levels: Offer segmented listening and additional visual aids.
- Advanced levels: Encourage an oral summary and a debate in English on the theme.
