Objective & content

The two speakers present London as a city of landmarks, starting with its size ("London is the biggest city in the United Kingdom.") and the River Thames. They cover Big Ben and Parliament, the royal palaces, the Tower of London, transport on the Tube and the double-decker buses, the London Eye, the parks and Tower Bridge. The language focus is present simple for facts, superlatives and prepositions of place ("next to", "across", "inside"). The vocabulary comes from sightseeing, transport and capital cities. The main skill is listening comprehension, with cultural awareness of London.
