Objective & content
This is the last episode of the season. A few days after the Gala, Tiago sits with Elena, Stella, Neil and Mika at Café Marisol, where he now feels he belongs. Then his phone rings: it is his mother, who now knows he is innocent, and he fears she will ask him to go back to Brazil. The grammar focus is the first conditional with going to ("If I answer, she's going to say she's sorry"), with vocabulary of home and belonging (innocent, celebrity, local, sale, truth, welcome). Learners practise listening for who calls, what Tiago fears and what he does at the end.
Pedagogical guide
The lesson lasts 45 minutes and is built around one open question: what does home mean? The episode ends without an answer, so do not tell students what Tiago decides. Let them predict it with if sentences. The audio is fast and natural; if a class struggles, replay the last scene before the second listen. Keep the discussion about home respectful, because some students may have moved house or country.
Suggested procedure
- (4 min) Write HOME on the board. Students put one word on a sticky note, then answer: what helps you feel at home in a new country?
- (4 min) Preview six words: innocent, celebrity, local, sale, truth, welcome.
- (3 min) First listen without stopping: where are the characters, and what happens at the end?
- (11 min) Second listen, pausing at about 0:55, 1:22 and 1:32 to ask how Tiago feels about the town, what he fears and why the question is hard. Replay the last 10 seconds: who is he talking to?
- (5 min) Comprehension check: five questions, oral or from the in-app quiz.
- (4 min) Vocabulary: matching game, or the tasks on the student sheet.
- (6 min) Grammar: underline if + present simple and going to in three lines from the script, then play a chain game ("If I go to the café, I'm going to ...").
- (5 min) Pair work: one student is Tiago, the other a friend who asks "Are you going to answer?".
- (3 min) Optional writing: three sentences starting "If I ..., I'm going to ..." about home.
